What is Burn's Night?
Generally speaking, a Robert Burns supper is a celebration of the Scottish poet
Robert Burns held on or near Burns' birthday of January 25th. These celebrations are held all over the world. There is
a general format that most of these dinners adhere to at least some degree, usually including events such as the entrance of the
haggis, the immortal memory, the toast to the lassies and the toast to the laddies. Of course, Scottish dancing and bagpiping are usually central to the event.
Moscow has had a Robert Burns supper since 1994. It's happened every since then with the exception of 2005, making this upcoming the 13th (mostly) annual Moscow Burns Night. We adhere to many of the traditions mentioned above and have a few of our own that have developed over the years. See the
schedule page for a more complete explanation of what you can expect.
